The United Nations History
The Name "United Nation" was called by United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt and it was used in the declaration by the United Nation on January 1, 1942, throughout the second world war. Twenty six nations pledged their governments to fight together against the Axis powers and later on they established international organizations to cooperate on specific matters. The states first established the International telecommunication Union in 1865 and the Universal Postal Union in 1874. Both of these unions are now United Nations specialized agencies. It all started in 1945 when 50 representatives of different countries met in San Francisco at the United Nations Conference on international Organization to start the the United Nations Charter. The Charter was then signed on June 26, 1945 by the representatives of the 50 countries. The only country that represented on the conference was Poland, but later on signed it and it became one of the original fifty one member states. The existence of The United Nations was on October 24, 1945 when the Charter had been ratified by China, France, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States and by a majority of other signatures. The United Nations was created for peace and to prevent wars.
